Board governance modules for Gain organisations
A programme of 11 modules delivered as 22 half day training days will be held in London. The following modules have been well-received and developed and modified over the three London GAIN programmes. Each course will be programmed twice at varying times of day to maximise access:
- Governing with impact
- Staff and personnel issues
- Effective Meetings
- Effective Networking
- Governance and Legal Responsibilities of Trustees
- How Boards work
- Negotiating and Influencing
- Finance for Board members
- The Chair/Chief Exec Relationship
- Recruitment, induction and retention
- Understanding the Sector
Additionally a range of short debates, discussions, peer-learning and networking opportunities will be programmed to coincide with training days. Diversity will be explored as a topic for discussion in all of the above courses as a cross-cutting governance theme. In our experience this approach will produce a deeper level of discussion and engagement with the issue than programming a specific diversity course.
A Training needs analysis will be offered to individuals and organisations as the range of skill, knowledge, confidence and learning styles is anticipated to be very diverse. Participation in the courses will be optional for both individuals and organisations but attendance at a minimum of 5 modules will be strongly encouraged.
These training needs analyses will be used to establish a benchmark for individuals and organisations to assess and monitor their success and progress throughout the programme.
All sessions take place at ITC Training Room, 12 The Leathermarket, Weston Street, London SE1 3ER
